Calvert County's 27th Annual Cancer Gala will be held at the
Rod 'N' Reel Thursday August 7 , 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Advanced tickets are $125 per person and $150 the day of the event.
The Gala, first organized 27 years ago by Rod 'N' Reel owner and Chesapeake Beach Mayor Gerald Donovan,
is a celebration of life with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society for research, education and
patient services. In 1982, the first event raised $5,300 and to date combined earnings have reached almost $3.4
million and continue to grow!
Approximately 40% of the money stays right here in Calvert County to support such programs as the Road to
Recovery, I Can Hope, Look Good…Feel Good, Man to Man and Reach to Recovery.
The American Cancer Society is also very active in educating the community about early detection and prevention.
The Honorary Chairs for this year are Bob and Pat Carpenter. Please join them
in honoring memories of our loved ones and to celebrate the lives of all cancer survivors.
This year's evening promises to be another fun-filled evening with Seafood including Maine lobsters,
shrimp, oysters, clams, mussels, crabs and fresh fish as well as roasted pig, filet mignon, barbecue ribs,
grilled chicken, steamship round, desserts galore and more. Enjoy an open bar, live music and dancing
inside and outside.
